Christian Standhardinger vowed to do whatever he can just to make himself available for this week’s FIBA 3×3 World Cup after missing San Miguel’s 104-97 overtime victory over Barangay Ginebra San Miguel last Sunday because of a knee injury.
Standhardinger’s status for the Beermen’s game on Wednesday against the Columbian Dyip and in the June 8 to 12 World Cup remains doubtful after suffering from a patellofemoral pain syndrome and an iliotibal band syndrome on his left knee.
The San Miguel rookie got hurt during preparation for the 3×3 competition.
“I’ll do everything in my power to play in the 3×3. That’s very important to me,” Standhardinger said.
The No. 1 overall pick in last year’s draft was included in the 3×3 lineup alongside TNT KaTropa’s Troy Rosario and Roger Pogoy and GlobalPort’s Stanley Pringle as the Philippines seeks a better showing in the tourney slated at the cavernous Philippine Arena in Bocaue, Bulacan.
The Philippines is bracketed in Pool C together with Russia, Brazil, Canada and Mongolia. The top two teams after the group stage advance to the knockout phase.
