It’s very rare that players see a silver lining despite successive losses.
Such is the case of Ginebra’s top point guard LA Tenorio and resident import Justin Brownlee.
Though they suffered a painful 104-97 overtime loss to San Miguel Beer Sunday at the MOA Arena, both players remained upbeat, saying their second defeat in three days in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup won’t derail their drive for another shot at playoffs.
In Brownlee’s debut for the Kings last Friday also at MOA, they absorbed a 93-82 defeat to the Meralco Bolts.
“Tonight was definitely a tough loss but tonight I think there were lots of improvement from Friday’s game,” said Brownlee. “Tough loss but we can build on further. Of course nobody wants to be 1 and 5 but we’re still confident.”
Tenorio, meantime, admits offense is still an issue for them but he feels there’s a reason for them to feel good about their performance on the other end of the court.
“Medyo ok yung defensive namin, we went back to basic this weekend so I think may maganda kaming nakikita defensively,” said Tenorio. “Offensively medyo scattered pa kami kasi Friday was the first game of Justin and this is his second game. Dalawang big games pa.”
“Every game is a do-or-die for us and hopefully yung ‘Never Say Die’ spirit lumabas starting next game,” said Tenorio ‘There’s room for improvement for us but the margin for error now is really minimal.
