Lea Salonga was hailed Best Featured Actress in a Musical at this year’s Theater Fans’ Choice Awards.
The recognition was for her portrayal of Erzulie in the musical “Once On This Island.”
Lea expressed joy for the recognition via Twitter.
She wrote, “Oh my!!! Thanks to our fans for all the island love!!!”
Her co-star in the musical, Alex Newell, was named Best Featured Actor in a Musical.
“Once On This Island” was also awarded Best Revival of a Musical, Best Direction of a Musical, Best Choreography, Best Leading Actress in a Musical, Best Lighting Design, Best Orchestrations, Best Scenic Design, Best Sound Design of a Musical, and Broadway’s Backbone Best Musical Ensemble.
The Theater Fans’ Choice Awards is now on its 16th year.
