Rio Olympics silver medalist Hidilyn Diaz is certain that there are young weightlifters capable of making it big in international stage and exceed what she has accomplished in her career.
That was she stressed as she formally launched the 2nd edition of the Hidilyn Diaz Weightlifting Open Championships (HDWOC) set July 27 to 29 at the Meralco Gym in Pasig City.
“We have lots of young weightlifters in the country, and it’s just a matter of developing their skills. Even at a young age they’re really very good,” said Diaz in a press briefing yesterday at the CrossFit Ortigas in Pasig City.
Diaz will see action in the Jakarta-Paembang Asian Games in Indonesia this August, and she is likewise eyeing a spot in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics – likely her last international event as she intends to focus on her personal life. (Waylon Galvez)
