CAMP SIMEON OLA, Legazpi City, Albay – Four persons were killed while two others are wounded when four gunmen fired at them while at the house of the barangay captain of Barangay Nabongsoran, Aroroy, Masbate Friday.
Senior Insp. Malu Calubaquib identified the fatalities as Ariel R. Madrilejos, 30, a barangay tanod; John Paul A. Cristobal, 19, Sangguniang Kabataan kagawad; Dijie R. Cabarles, 31; and Ricky P. Alejo, 29, also a barangay tanod.
Wounded, on the other hand, were Jeo V. Cabarles, 21, a student, and Jury P. Cabarles , 31, chief barangay tanod.
They are all residents of Barangay Nabongsoran.
Calubaquib said that the victims were at the house of Barangay Captain Leo B. Cabarles when the suspects Rickymar P. Cabarles, alias “Bonggoy,” 42; Ruben P. Cabarles, alias “Dondoy,” 41; Nelson A. Carmen, alias “Eson,” 47; and Edan D. Amparo, alias “Gard,” 37; all residents of Barangay Nabongsoran, arrived and opened fire at them.
She said that Ariel, John Paul, and Dijie died on the spot while Ricky was taken to the Masbate Provincial Hospital in Masbate City where he died.
Initial investigation disclosed that the motive of the incident was revenge over an undisclosed reason.
Recovered from the crime scene were fired cartridges of M16 rifle and .45 caliber pistol.
Followup probe and pursuit operations against the suspects who fled after the incident are ongoing.
