Two suspected holdup suspects were gunned down during an encounter with police in Sampaloc, Manila, yesterday.
One of the suspects, both remained unidentified as of yesterday, died on the spot from several gunshot wounds in the body, Supt. Andrew Aguirre said. The other suspect was rushed to the Ospital ng Sampaloc but declared dead-on-arrival by attending physicians.
Prior to the incident, a woman, who wished not to be unidentified, sought the help of patrolling policemen during the wee hours yesterday after reportedly being held at gunpoint by the suspects.
Members of Sampaloc Police Station tailed the motorcycle-riding suspects until they reached Ramon Magsaysay Avenue.
The suspects reportedly fired shots at the cops, prompting the police to retaliate. The suspects were cornered on Altura Bridge.
Police recovered from the crime scene the stolen bag containing phones and cash, a .38-caliber gun and the suspects’ vehicle.
