Barangay Ginebra San Miguel extended its winning streak to four games Sunday night after cruising past Alaska, 105-86, in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Ginebra leaned on a 68-percent shooting in the first half to claim a relatively easy victory that put coach Tim Cone’s charges in a tie for sixth place with GlobalPort at 5-5 going into the league’s 11-day break.
“I was surprised by what happened in that first half,” said Cone. “We had a really good groove, I don’t know why, I don’t know what we’re doing that making us play as good as we are, but it’s working.”
Import Justin Brownlee registered 28 points, nine rebounds and eight assists, LA Tenorio had 12 points and Sol Mercado and Japeth Aguilar added 10 points apiece for Ginebra, which led by a high of 33 in the second half.
