President Duterte has commended the Office of the Solicitor General for winning the legal battle on cases related to the martial law proclamation in Mindanao as well as a suspected drug protector.
The President, speaking at the 117th anniversary celebration of the OSG Tuesday, praised the agency for their “impressive legal acumen and skills in landmark cases that they handled before the courts.”
“One of these cases is the government’s victory in the martial law cases, when the OSG successfully defended the validity of the declaration of martial law to quell the rebellion in Marawi,” Malacanang said.
“According to the President, had it not been for the OSG’s efforts, the government would not have completely liberated Marawi from the clutches of fear and terror and would not have created a safe environment for its rehabilitation,” it added.
The President also praised the OSG for its role in the government’s campaign against the illegal drugs trade.
Duterte cited the OSG after it “successfully represented the interest of the government and the people when it fought for the indictment of a high-ranking government official, who used her office to protect and coddle big-time drug dealers,” Malacacang said. (Genalyn D. Kabiling)
