A motorcycle-riding gunman was killed in an encounter with Paranaque City cops who were conducting “Oplan Sita” in the city early yesterday morning.
Suspect Jason de Jesus, a resident of Barangay San Antonio, Paranaque City, died on the spot from multiple gunshot wounds in the body.
Police said that prior to the shootout, members of the Paranaque City Police Precinct 6 were conducting patrol as part of the “Oplan Sita” at about 3:35 a.m. along C-5 Extension, Barangay Moonwalk, Paranaque City, when they spotted two men riding on a motorcycle.
Upon seeing the cops, the suspects immediately sped off.
Police Officers 1 Micahel Ignacio and Carlo Nice chased the suspects during which the back rider reportedly pulled out a gun and fired shots at the cops.
The lawmen retaliated, killing the back rider. The other suspect managed to escape on board the motorcycle.
Police later found out that De Jesus was a drug surrenderee involved in carnapping and robbery cases.
Police recovered from the suspect a .38-caliber “paltik” revolver. (Jean Fernando)
