The continuous review of police personnel’s performance all over the country will likely trigger another movement within the ranks of the Philippine National Police (PNP) in the weeks to come, Director General Oscar Albayalde said yesterday.
According to the PNP chief, the national oversight committee has yet to finish the deliberation of the city and provincial police directors’ performances but they are keeping an eye on “some” officials.
“Pagdating sa PD [provincial director] and CD [city director] hindi pa tayo tapos doon. We are looking [at] a few [officials] sa ibang cities and provinces,” Albayalde said.
He also noted that some police directors have already finished the mandatory two-year tour of duty so they will have to be moved to another assignment. He previously said that keeping the police directors moving will help them sustain their efficiency and passion for service.
The PNP chief, however, did not provide further details on what city and provincial police offices they are keeping a track of because of its commander’s performance.
Meanwhile, Albayalde said that he is satisfied with the performances of almost all regional directors (RDs) after a series of reshuffle in the previous months.
“As far as the national oversight committee is concerned, i think all the RDs have reacted. They are all aligned sa sinasabi nating thrust ng PNP,” he stated.
“Kung hindi lahat, eh halos lahat they are performing well,” he added.
After assuming the top PNP post in April, Albayalde ordered for a monthly review of all the ground commanders including the regional, city and provincial directors down to the precinct commanders, to determine their efficiency.
