Princess Superal hopes to ruin the sweep bid of Thai Ploychompoo Wirairungreung when the ICTSI Champion Tour unfolds on Wednesday at Tagaytay Midlands.
Superal, who settled for joint second, hopes to play much better this time and end Wirairungreung’s scintillating run in the event.
With the weather expected to improve in the coming week, the organizing Pilipinas Golf Tournaments, Inc. and co-sanctioning Taiwan LPGA Tour see a fierce duel in all three days of the $75,000 championship unlike last week when Wirairungreung wrapped it all up in just 36 holes in the rain-shortened event at Manila Southwoods.
The 23-year-old ace from Chiang Rai said she would’ve wanted to play it through the cancelled round at Southwoods to see if she could measure up and withstand the pressure. But her pair of bogey-free 65 and 69 more than underscored her superb form, which she hopes to dish out at Midlands.
That should make the upcoming championship put up by ICTSI doubly interesting with wind-swept Midlands providing a different kind of challenge with its up-and-down layout, hazards that come into play in most holes and sleek putting surface.
Aside from Wirairungreung and Superal, also back in the hunt are Thais Supamas Sangchan, Chonlada Chayanun and former Philippine Ladies Masters champions Saranporn Langkulgasettrin and Renuka Suksukont, and top TLPGA campaigners Chen Min-Jou, Hsin Lee, Chang Hsuan-Ping, Lin Tzu-Chi and Lee Chia-Pei.
