San Beda University shoots for its third straight win when it battles hard-luck Emilio Aguinaldo College today in the NCAA men’s basketball tournament at The Arena in San Juan City.
After working very hard to hurdle their first two games, the Red Lions hope to have a smooth ride this time when they clash with the Generals at 4 p.m.
They survived the determined challenge of the University of Perpetual Altas before eking out a 67-65 win.
The same thing happened in their game against the College of St. Benide Blazers that saw them rally furiously to escape with the 75-69 win.
Out to lead SBU are Robert Bolick, Javee Mocon and Donald Tankoua.
But San Beda is not taking EAC for granted, knowing the Generals are aching to end a three-game losing run.
That’s also the target of Jose Rizal University when it collides with CSB at 12 noon.
The Bombers fell to 0-4 mark after losing badly to the Letran Knights, 74-58.
Despite similar poor starts, both JRU and EAC are confident they can still turn their fortunes around.
Jed Mendoza, Leo Esguerra and RJ David are expected to fuel the Bombers after scoring in double digits the last time, but the Mandaluyong-based squad needs more energy and firepower to beat a team like St. Benilde.
The Blazers, who are toting a 1-2 card, will be bannered by Clement Leutcheu and Yankie Haruna for 32 points and 17 rebounds the last time.
Carlo Young and Unique Naboa are also out to provide help for St. Benilde.
