MARIVELES, Bataan – The Authority of the Freeport Area of Bataan (AFAB) started releasing water Wednesday afternoon after its dam exceeded the safe water level.
As per the advisory issued at 2 p.m. Wednesday, the water level reached 156.40 meters above sea level, nearing the critical level of 158.00 meters.
According to AFAB, the spilling operation was conducted until water level reached 155.00 meters above sea level as part of safety protocols.
Heavy rains and water from the mountains contributed to the rapid rise of water level in the dam, AFAB stated.
AFAB assures, however that no households will be affected with the dam spilling operations since Wednesday afternoon.
The spillway of the dam leads straight to Paniquian River which connects directly to Mariveles Bay, AFAB marketing specialist Kelvin Rae Rodriguez said. (Mar Supnad)
