The Bureau of Immigration (BI) has barred the entry of blacklisted Australian professor and rallyist Gill Hale Boehringer.
Immigration Spokesperson Dana Krizia Sandoval said Boehringer arrived yesterday at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 1 from Guangzhou, China.
She said the foreigner has been described by the intelligence sources as undesirable visitor and a threat to public safety, hence he was placed in the BI blacklist.
Boehringer reportedly participated in an anti-government demonstration in Manila in November 2015 which was a violation of the condition of his visit to the country.
“Inclusion in the blacklist means that the subject is a threat to public order and safety,” Sandoval said.
She clarified that foreigners are afforded due process by allowing them to file a request for lifting of the travel ban.
“If he submits sufficient proof to reverse the blacklist, it may be lifted accordingly,” Sandoval explained.(Jun Ramirez)
