University of Perpetual Help guns for a share of third place when it collides with winless Jose Rizal University today in the NCAA men’s basketball tournament at The Arena in San Juan City.
The Altas are out to follow up their 78-76 squeaker over the San Sebastian Stags four days back in their 4 p.m. matchup with the Bombers.
They are now toting a 3-2 card, half-a-game behind Letran (4-2).
Lyceum and reigning titlist San Beda remain 1-2 with 7-0 and 5-0 cards.
While momentum is on their side, coach Frankie Lim is not taking the Bombers lightly since the latter is out to move mountains to barge into the win column.
The Bombers have yet to savor the sweet taste of victory in six games.
Lim will continue to rely on the dynamic duo of Prince Eze and Edgar Charcos, who have been playing great for the Altas.
Against the Stags, the 6-foot-11 Eze tallied 22 points, 18 rebounds and six blocks while spitfire Charcos pumped in 18 points, five boards and three steals.
Lim can also count on Rey Peralta and Jeffrey Coronel who have shown their flashes of brilliance in the team’s previous wins.
JRU, meanwhile, aches to crawl out of the dark cellar as it tries to catch up with the rest of the field.
JRU’s latest setback was against Arellano, 79-70
In the other pairing, Emilio Aguinaldo College and College of St. Benilde try to untangle themselves from identical 2-4 marks in their 2 p.m. confrontation.
The Generals are riding the crest of back-to-back triumphs against the Mapua Cardinals (89-85) and the Stags (79-77) while the Blazers aim to recover from a 77-65 loss to powerhouse Lyceum Pirates last week.
