The National Basketball Association (NBA) finally gave Cleveland Cavaliers guard Jordan Clarkson the go-signal to play for the Philippine national team at the 2018 Asian Games.
In their official statement, the Asian Games is not part of the NBA’s agreement with FIBA to release players under contract in the league. However, with the ‘lack of communication’ in that said agreement, the NBA gave the one-time approval of players from Philippines and China to participate in the tournament.
Among the players allowed were Jordan Clarkson for the Philippines, Houston Rockets center Zhou Qi and Dallas Mavericks forward Ding Yanyuhang for China.
