Little-known Robin Rono buried two triples in the extra time as the Parañaque Patriots outplayed the Caloocan Supremos, 94-87, in the 2018 Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League Datu Cup Wednesday night at the Olivares College gym.
With Rono finding his range, the Patriots outscored the Supremos, 13-6, on the way to their fourth win against two losses.
The triumph enabled the Patriots to forge a four-way tie for fourth to 7th places with the Bacoor Strikers, Makati Skyscrapers and Zamboanga Valientes.
Rono finished with 23 points on a 9-of-13 field goal shooting while grabbing three rebounds and dishing off three steals.
Harold Arboleda flirted with a triple-double by posting 19 points, 11 boards and eight assists even as Evan Allen also contributed inside the paint by collaring 14 rebounds.
The Supremos absorbed their fourth defeat in six outings.
In the other game, the Pampanga Lanterns outplayed the Batangas City Athletics also in overtime, 80-75.
The Lanterns recovered from a sluggish third quarter where they scored only seven points but went on full throttle in the fourth.
