Donita Rose faces future with newfound excitement moving on from past disappointments
By NEIL RAMOS
Donita Rose is slowly but surely getting into the groove of things showbiz-wise, several years after ending her marriage with Eric Villarama, the father of her 14-year old son, Joshua Paul, in 2016.
The former actress, who gained worldwide fame following a stint as VJ on MTV Asia, has successfully reinvented herself as a celebrity chef, landing an episodic cooking show that airs on GMA7.
She admitted it took time for her to adjust to singlehood following the demise of her marriage but she is now in a good place.
“I’m doing very well, thank you,” she shared during a recent chat. “Siguro Icould say that I have finally moved on and that I’ve fully recovered.”
“Yes, at first mahirap kasi my entire life, I’ve been dedicated to serving my family; not just my immediate family, my siblings…
“Pero ngayon, like, Ihave my own place na, you know, going back to working out, and just focusing on my son… Iwould say that Iam fully happy where I’m at right now.”
But doesn’t she get lonely at times?
“Well, you know, Iwould say that ang kulang na lang siguro love life, but hindi ko naman siya hinahanap,” she said.
“I’ve never dated, never thought about anything. Because Ijust really wanted my heart to heal first.
“You know when you’re broken-hearted, Idon’t know how people can think about love when they’re broken-hearted. You really need to heal first.”
If ever, Donita simply wants to do more work.
“Gusto ko sana na magkaroon pa ng maraming trabaho para makapag-ipon pa nang kaunti, kasi Iwanna finish paying off my place.
“Iwant to be able to renovate my kitchen so that Ican do shoots at home.
“Yun talaga yung d r e a m ko na it’s taking a bit longer than expected.”
She also wants to publish a cook book.
“Yeah, Imentioned that to my sponsors, to my Jolly Heart Mate Canola Oil family, and yeah, who knows? Baka magkatotoo na!”
Donita is excited with Season 2 of “Heart Mate Kitchen,” which is ongoing until October, airing during commercial gaps of “Unang Hirit” and “Wowowin” during weekdays; and in between “Sarap Diva” and the “Kapuso Movie Festival” during weekends.
“Excited ako kasi level up kami,” she said. “Kasi last Season 1 we mainly focused on introducing quality, healthy affordable Filipino dishes with an exciting twist, ‘di ba? Ngayon naman we will help solve real kitchen problems with some Kapuso celebrities.”
Some of the celebrities slated to appear on the show are Mikael Daez, Rocco Nacino, Jason Abalos, Julie Anne San Jose, Zoren Legazpi, and Yasmien Kurdi.
