CIRCA ‘70s – What do Anthony Castelo, Darius Razon, and Eva Vivar have in common? Well, all three are popular singers circa ‘70s, when OPM (Original Pilipino Music) started to flourish. By way of paying tribute to OPM songs and singers, Net 25 of Eagle Broadcasting Corp. is mounting a Sunday musical hosted by Anthony, Darius, and Eva. The shows airs starting tomorrow Aug. 26, Sunday, 8 p.m.
The musical is billed “The Young Once” (Upon a Time) and as expected songs of yesteryear, from the ’70 to the ‘90s, will be showcased.
“The Young Once” is simulcast on EBC’s Pinas FM, the only FM station that plays 100 percent OPM hits.
GUESTS – The country’s finest singers will have as guests in the Net 25 musical the likes of Rico J. Puno, Imelda Papin, Eva Eugenio, Claire de la Fuente, Rey Valera, Ogie Alcasid, Hajji Alejandro, Pilita Corrales, Heber Bartolome.
“The Young Once” is meant for oldies and millennials alike. For the oldies to recall the songs of their youth and for the young ones to discover how beautiful (melody and lyrics) OPM is.
SONGS, SONGS – Colleague Rodel Fernando turns nostalgic and shares some of the songs of the “The Young Once” (Upon a Time).
Anthony Castelo – “Balatkayo,” “Nang Dahil sa Pag-ibig,” “Hahanap-Hanapin Ka.”
Darius Razon – “Everybody Knows,” “Carmelita,” “Ibigay Mo Na.”
Eva Vivar – “Mr. Love,” “Nobody’s Child,” “Among My Souvenirs” (the last titled popularized by Connie Francis, of whom Eva’s the Philippine counterpart.)
So there.
