DAVAO CITY – The city council will be asking low-cost carriers to provide cheaper flights for Davao City in the midst of the appeal of the area for tourists.
City councilor Al Ryan Alejandre, speaking during the privilege hour during Tuesday’s regular session, said prices for travel to and from Davao were as expensive as travel abroad.
“It is a known fact that our tourism sector is actively promoting Davao City as one at the major tourist destinations in the Philippines. In the recently concluded Kadayawan Festival,” Alejandre said.
“We have witnessed the influx of local and foreign tourists, which means to say, that the sector has indeed been successful in its goal of showcasing the city to the world as a top-notch destination,” he said.
The councilor illustrated that the ticket cost for flights a month ahead to or from Davao City were around the same amount for flights to or from places as far as Hong Kong. (Yas Ocampo)
