BUTUAN CITY – The regional command of Northeastern Mindanao Police Regional Office 13 (PRO 13) yesterday ordered a manhunt against the killer of a former barangay chairman who was gunned down at Purok 5, Barangay Taguibo, this city.
The regional command of PRO 13 also ordered the Butuan City Police Office (BCPO) to consider all angles in the investigation to determine the motive of the incident and the possible identity of the lone gunman.
The victim, identified as Benito P. Salvani, 50 and resident of Purok 2, Barangay San Antonio, Remedios Trinidad Romualdez (RTR) town, Agusan del Norte, was killed on the spot by a motorcycle riding gunman on Sunday while onboard his multi-cab.
He was former chairman in one of the barangays in RTR town.
The former barangay chairman sustained three gunshot wounds on his left chest, left bicep, and left arm, it said.
Responding ambulance of Operational Center (OPCEN) arrived and declared Salvani dead, the BCPO report said.
Three pieces of fired cartridges from a .45 caliber pistol were recovered from the crime scene by the responding police force from Ampayon BCPO Station 4.
