A HITHERTO unknown Filipino singer is now enjoying his fifteen minutes of fame on social media.
Eljay Villafuerte, a student from Candelaria, Quezon, got the attention of netizens doing Regine Velasquez’ “Pangarap Ko Ang Ibigin Ka.”
A friend posted the video on Facebook where it eventually gained nearly a million views in mere days.
Many couldn’t believe how a young man could sound uncannily like The Songbird.
“Ibang klase, ang husay grabe,” said one.
“kala mo lipsync lang e,” said another. “Tunay pala galing grabe!”
According to the news portal KAMI, the performance was impromptu with Villafuerte being goaded by friends to sing for fun while at a dance rehearsal.
