Far Eastern University got back at College of St. Benilde with a 25-19, 25-18, 25-19 victory yesterday to catch the last semifinal bus in the Premier Volleyball League Collegiate Conference at The Arena in San Juan City.
John Paul Bugaoan and Peter Quiel joined forces in FEU’s onslaught, scoring 15 and 11 points, respectively, as the Tamaraws completed the semis cast.
The playoff was needed after both teams finished with similar 5-4 cards.
It was sweet revenge for FEU, which bowed to St. Benilde in their first meeting 23-25, 11-25, 25-17, 25-17, 15-11 last Aug. 22.
The win also arranged the Tams a best-of-three semis meeting against top seed National University.
The other semis match pits University of Santo Tomas against Adamson.
Semis start on Saturday.
FEU banked on its solid net defense also anchored on Bugaoan and Quiel, who conspired for seven of the team’s 10 blocks.
Only Francis Basilan scored in double figures for the Blazers with 10 points.
