We always hear that the Philippines is home to the Center of Marine Biodiversity in the world, and that such center is located near Verde Island Passage in Batangas.
What exactly does this mean? According to an investigative report by CNN, this spot has “nearly 60% of the world’s known shore fish, as well as over 300 species of coral.”
A closer look in the islands will reveal rich flora and fauna with over 7, 492 species of plants, birds, amphibians, reptiles and mammals.
Alongside this rich biodiversity are national treasures with out-of-this-world qualities that can only be found in the Philippines.
According to topten.ph, an online trivia site, there are recently discovered bizarre creatures in the country, among them Flying Dragons.
Sorry, Daenerys fans, contrary to the typical ferocious fire-breathing dragons, these creatures are small lizards that feed on insects. And they actually don’t fly. Rather, they glide in the air using their elongated ribs.
