Lyceum rode on another MVP performance from CJ Perez and reaffirmed its mastery over San Sebastian, 88-70, to extend its impressive winning run to 10 games in the NCAA men’s basketball tournament at The Arena in San Juan City.
The 6-foot-2 Perez ran rings around the defenders thrown at him to finish with 21 points, nine rebounds and five steals as the rampaging Pirates kept their unblemished record.
Also delivering significant numbers for the Pirates were twins Jaycee and Jayvee Marcelino who provided big baskets when the team needed a stop.
Jaycee had 17 points while Jayvee added 14 points apart from combining for 10 boards, nine assists and four steals.
In the other seniors match, San Beda clobbered Jose Rizal University, 73-45, for their ninth win in 10 games.
Robert Bolick scored 14 points and hauled 12 rebounds for the Red Lions, who limited the Bombers to eight points in the fourth quarter while dropping 24 points en route to another lopsided victory.
Even Lyceum coach Topex Robinson was delighted with the way the twins responded to the challenge.
