Jerwin Ancajas is hell-bent in regaining his knockout ways and his manager-trainer has drawn the blueprint for it to be realized on Sept. 28 at the Oracle Arena in Oakland, California.
Joven Jimenez insists that Ancajas has been eating and breathing boxing the past several weeks in Magallanes, Cavite, and the Filipino southpaw is nearing peak form for the sixth defense of the International Boxing Federation (IBF) super-flyweight title against Alejandro Santiago of Mexico.
“I rounded up seven sparring partners, John Mark Akimane, Jomar Caindog, Daniel Lim, Miller Alapormina, Mark Anthony Barriga, Alexis Abillar and Niel John Tabanao,” said Jimenez, who will join Ancajas when the team leaves for San Francisco on Sept. 19.
Last May, Ancajas had to go 12 full rounds against mandatory challenger and fellow Filipino Jonas Sultan in Fresno before winning on a unanimous decision, a result that marked the first time Ancajas was unable to score an abbreviated win in over a year.
“We want a big win,” said Jimenez, adding that a victory could lead to another outing before the end of the year.
