A motorcycle-riding gunman was killed in a shootout with police after evading a checkpoint in Barangay Tunasan, Muntinlupa City, early yesterday morning.
Police have yet to identify the man, who died on the spot, who was clad in a blue jacket, blue shirt, and was on board a white motorcycle.
Investigation showed that a Highway Patrol Group team was conducting a checkpoint near a convenience store at about 1:25 a.m. along Don Pedro Reyes Ave. when they saw the unidentified motorcycle-riding suspect.
They flagged down the vehicle because of its defective headlight and the suspect was not wearing a helmet.
Police said the suspect did not stop and fired a shot at the HPG team before fleeing to Don Pedro Reyes Ave.
The cops chased the suspect who fired another shot at them. The lawmen retaliate, killing the gunman.
Authorities recovered a white Yamaha Mio Soul motorcycle with no plate number, a .38-caliber revolver loaded with three pieces of live ammunition and two fired cartridges and four cartridge cases of unknown caliber.
