Centro Escolar University looks to extend its winning streak to four games when it battles Philippine Christian University-Dasmariñas today in the Universities and Colleges Basketball League Season 3 yesterday at the Olivarez College gym in Paranaque City.
Coming off a 74-point win (120-46) over St. Joseph College of Bulacan on Monday, the Scorpions are heavily favored in their 12 noon encounter with the Dolphins.
Clashing at 2 p.m. are Diliman College of former Sen. Nikki Coseteng and Lyceum-Batangas with the former gunning for its first streak after clobbering the PCU Dolphins, 125-83, last Thursday.
Diliman established a record with its 125 output – thanks to Joseph Brutas and MC Arthur Enriquez who combined for 56 points spiked by 11 triples.
Diliman is now sporting a 2-1 card.
CEU, the inaugural champion, was jolted by Olivarez College in the opening day, 86-83, but has since turned into a deadly unit by winning its next three games by a mile.
Out to lead CEU is 6-foot-11 Senegalese Malick Maodo Diouf who posted a double-double of 15 points and 11 boards. His intimidating presence led to five CEU players in double figures with Rich Lorenz Guinitaran adding 14, Franz Ray Diaz and Fuentes posting 13 each.
The Olivarez Sea Lions remain as the only undefeated team in the seven-team tournament with a 4-0 card – their latest was a 93-74 spanking of the Technological Institute of the Philippines.
Backing the tournament are CaféFrance, Yakult, Gerry’s Grill, Hapee Toothpaste, MaxSell Power Tool and Tough Mama Home and Kitchen Appliances, Tanduay Athletics and Toyota Motor Philippines.
