PRESIDENT Duterte has discouraged his spokesperson Harry Roque from running for senator in the elections due to his supposed poor chance of victory.
The President said he might offer Roque another job after revealing that soldiers were not supporting his planned senatorial bid.
“Ayan sila si Roque, gusto mag-senador. Sabi ko, ‘Tama ka na.’ T*** i** diyan. Standby ka. Bigyan kita ibang trabaho. Hindi ka manalo diyan.’ Bakit? Ah ‘yung mga sundalo ayaw sa iyo,” Duterte said before an assembly of the Philippine Military Academy Alumni Association Inc. in Malacañang Thursday.
“Itinuro ko kayo at saka si (Solicitor General Jose) Calida. Sundalo ayaw sa iyo,” said Duterte, who previously endorsed Roque as a potential senatorial contender in the elections.
Roque, a former Kabayan party-list lawmaker, has yet to announce if he would run for senator in the elections. He earlier said he wanted to talk to the President about the matter. (Genalyn D. Kabiling)
