Quirino Police arrested one of the suspects in the murder of Catholic priest Richmond Nilo Friday in Zaragoza, Nueva Ecija.
Senior Supt. Gregory Bognalbal, Quirino Police Provincial director said the suspect was one of those who tailed the priest before he was shot and killed inside a chapel in Zaragoza last June.
A report from office of Chief Supt Jose Mario Espino, police regional office 2 director, identified suspect as Bernie Mangulabnan Limpio, 36 , single and resident of Lacqios, Arayat, Pampanga.
Limpio was a subject of buy bust operation at Sta Maria, Maddela, Quirino by joint personnel of Police Investigation Branch, Quirino Police Provincial Office and Maddela Police at around 6:00 p.m. where he was arrested after selling one piece of heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing white crystalline substance believed to be shabu to PO3 Ryan Juliana who acted as poseur-buyer.
After his arrest, police found out the suspect has an existing Warrant of Arrest for the crime of murder that involved the death of Fr. Nilo.
It was learned that Limpio was involved in a gun running syndicate and illegal drug trade.
“Target na namin siya bago pa magkaroon ng bagyong Ompong subalit biglang naglaho at muling nagbalik sa Quirino kahapon at nadiskubre namin na isa sya sa suspek sa pagpatay sa pari, said Bognalbal.
Fr. Nilo was shot to death June 10, as he was preparing for evening mass at a small chapel in Barangay Mayamot, Zaragoza Nueva Ecija.
