Letran guns for the third semifinal berth when it clashes with San Sebastian today in NCAA men’s basketball at The Arena in San Juan City.
The Knights seek their 12th win in 16 outings in the 2 p.m. tussle with the Stags with hopes of joining San Beda (14-1) and Lyceum (14-2) in the next phase.
Coming off a morale-boosting 80-79 squeaker against Lyceum last Friday, the stalwarts of Letran coach Jeff Napa are in high spirits to keep the momentum going with Bong Quinto and Larry Muyang in front of their assault.
Quinto showed his composure in the crunch when he drained 10 of his 20 points in the fourth quarter against the Pirates, while Muyang stepped up with 23 points and 16 rebounds.
San Sebastian, meanwhile, wants to spoil the party as it tries to continue its campaign despite being eliminated from the semis race at 4-11.
Still reeling from an 85-77 overtime loss to Perpetual last week, the Stags aim to bounce back with Alvin Capobres, Regille Ilagan and Allyn Bulanadi leading the squad.
In the other game, University of Perpetual Help tangles with also-ran Emilio Aguinaldo College at 4 p.m. to clinch at least a playoff for a Final Four spot. The Altas currently tote a 10-5 mark at fourth place, two games ahead of closest pursuer College of St. Benilde (8-7).
