Hall of Fame promoter Bob Arum has set in motion efforts to bring together a unification fight at super-flyweight starring Jerwin Ancajas and Thai star Srisaket Sor Rungvisai.
Ancajas, the International Boxing Federation champion at 115 lbs, is under Arum’s Top Rank Inc. while Sor Rungvisai, is the World Boxing Council titlist.
Though Sor Rungvisai is not under Top Rank, Arum swears that it won’t be difficult to arrange a showdown between the two as he is friends with Tom Loeffler, the US representative of Sor Rungvisai.
“Trying to get this done next,” said Arum yesterday from the US.
Ancajas’s wish to face Sor Rungvisai in a clash was formally relayed to Arum by Sean Gibbons, who is the Filipino fighter’s matchmaker.
Gibbons brought Ancajas and chief handler Joven Jimenez to Bangkok over the weekend to check out Sor Rungvisai in person.
