Ernie Gawilan bagged his second gold medal on Wednesday night in a unique finish in the 2018 Asian Para Games para swimming competitions at the GBK Aquatic Center in Jakarta, Indonesia.
Gawilan and Japanese Ejima Daisuke were awarded with gold medals after clocking one minute, 19.90 seconds in the men’s 100-meter backstroke.
It was a fitting sequel to his 200-meter individual medley SM7 victory.
With Gawilan’s victory, the Philippines improved its tally to 6-6-6 (gold-silver-bronze) to take 11th place in the medal standings.
