The Philippines won four more golds on Friday as the country’s chessers and swimmer Ernie Gawilan dominated their rivals in the 2018 Asian Para Games.
The Para Chess team added two more gold medals for the Philippines with Sander Severino ruling the Individual Rapid P1 – Men event. He was also part of the gold-medal winning team alongside Henry Roger Lopez and Jasper Rom that won the Team Rapid P1 – Men.
Also, Lopez snagged the silver medal in the Individual Rapid P1 – Men while Rom and Arman Subaste also won the bronze in the Individual Rapid P1 – Men and Individual Rapid B2-B3 – Men respectively.
Gawilan produced his third gold after ruling the Men’s 400M Freestyle S7 (6-7) for men at the GBK Aquatic Center.
Also shining for PH was cyclist Arthus Bucay who won the gold in the Men’s C5 Individual Pursuit 4000M for Men at the Jakarta International Velodrome, besting Sufyan Saori of Indonesia (silver) and Mohammadi Mahdi of Iran (bronze).
The PH Para bets now have 29 medals.
The team of Subaste, Menandro Redor and Israel Peligro (Team Rapid B2-B3 – Men) and Francis Ching, Rodolfo Sarmiento and Cecilio Bilog (Team Rapid B1 – Men) accounted for the two other bronze medal for the Filipino woodpushers.
Also, Gary Bejino settled for the silver medal in the Men’s 200M Individual Medley SM6 (5-6) for Men.
