The San Juan Knights downed the Marikina Shoemasters, 77-65, on Saturday in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League Datu Cup at the Marist School gym.
John Wilson had 10 points and 12 rebounds while Larry Rodriguez added 10 points and 10 boards as the Knights bounced back from an 85-77 defeat to the Rizal Crusaders four days back to jump at 9-2.
The Shoemasters fell to 4-7 despite Dexter Mescallado and Yves Sazon merging for 30 points.
Meanwhile, the Davao Occidental Tigers leaned on Leo Najorda as they beat the Laguna Heroes, 72-66, for 8-3.
Najorda erupted with 25 points highlighted by five triples while grabbing seven rebounds.
Billy Robles also contributed with 15 points and Bonbon Custodio added 11 points for the Tigers, who overcame the combined performances of Denok Miranda and Michael Mabulac for the Heroes.
Miranda and Mabulac teamed up for 38 points and 23 rebounds but the Heroes still fell short as it dropped to 6-5. (Kristel Satumbaga)
