The Pasay Voyagers and the Davao Occidental Tigers scored contrasting victories on Saturday in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League Datu Cup at the Rizal Memorial College gym.
The Voyagers squeaked past the Quezon City Capitals, 83-81, for their fifth win against seven losses while the Tigers dumped the Mandaluyong El Tigre, 86-63, to improve to 9-3.
Bobby Bulacanag scored 26 points for the Voyagers, including the crucial two free throws in the last 57 seconds that put them ahead for good. He also collared 13 rebounds.
Yvan Ludovice almost made a triple-double effort with 19 points, 10 assists and eight rebounds.
The Tigers, meanwhile, leaned on Emanuel Calo, who scored 17 points. The Capitals and the El Tigre fell to 2-7 and 6-5 records.
