EVERYONE thought she has bid showbiz bye-bye. But Andi Eigenmann was more than ready to slam the insinuation, maintaining her absence – which lasted for more than a year – was not about her quitting showbiz but rather more about her not landing good parts.
“I’m an actress and I’m always going to be fascinated with and about movies,” she said in a recent interview. “I was waiting to land good roles but I guess they are few and far between nowadays. It’s either that or producers don’t think I’m good enough for them.”
One would think she would be worried with the thought but, no.
An avid surfer, Eigenmann now spends most of her time in Baler and Siargao.
She related how peaceful and laidback it is there.
“Simple lang ang buhay ko doon, like ‘yung food namin sino-source namin directly from the sea and ‘yun nga, everyday nasa dagat ako to surf.”
As to her daughter, Ellie, she said, “I bring her with me as often as I can. Pero ngayon na may school, hati kami ng time sa kanya ng dad niya, si Jake (Ejercito).”
In any case, Eigenmann is back with a new film, “All Souls Night.” Produced by Viva Films and Aliud Entertainment, it is a horror-suspense thriller that is set to open in cinemas on Oct. 31.
From the imagination of Yam Laranas, the movie follows the story of Shirley, a student who answers an ad for a quick three-day job as house help.
Her employer, Ellen, readily tells her three important house rules: First, keep the doors and windows shut; second, stay locked inside the house; and third, don’t enter rooms without permission.
None too soon, however, eerie happenings occur and Shirley has to find out what has been causing them before she goes mad.
Co-directed by Aloy Adlawan and Jules Katanyag, Eigenmann said the film is right up her alley.
“I love horror and suspense. Most of all, I love it that my character here is not your usual damsel in distress. She is a strong, determined woman whom I really could identify with,” she said.
Is she back for good?
“Well, it depends,” Eigenmann shot back. “Like I said, I’m all about good projects. If and when they are offered to me, I’m sure to consider them. Kung wala naman, I’m perfectly happy with my life back in Baler and Siargao.” (Neil Ramos)
