Three-peat-seeking San Beda and University of Perpetual Help clash today in a preview of their semifinal clash in the NCAA men’s basketball at The Arena in San Juan City.
Set at 2 p.m., both the Red Lions and the Altas are going to use this last eliminations matchup as a tune-up before their Final Four duel.
The two squads arranged a faceoff in the crossover semis after San Beda clinched the top seeding with their 16-1 win-loss record and Perpetual settling for No.4 with an 11-6 mark.
The Red Lions, however, carry a twice-to-beat incentive for finishing in the top two.
Before focusing on the next phase, though, the two teams are looking at ending the elims on a bright note with Perpetual also hoping to settle some score following a 67-65 first-round loss to San Beda in opening day last July 7.
Perpetual coach Frankie Lim, who used to call the shots for San Beda, seeks for a different outcome this time as he leans on Prince Eze and Edgar Charcos to lead the squad along with vastly improving Rey Peralta, Jelo Razon and Kim Aurin.
Boasting of a lineup with experience, San Beda mentor Boyet Fernandez, for his part, has Robert Bolick, Javee Mocon and Donald Tankoua as the Red Lions aim for an impressive 11-game winning run.
