World Boxing Association (WBA) welterweight king Manny Pacquiao wants to ride into the sunset with a bang.
Formally declaring his alliance with Al Haymon, the influential adviser of Floyd Mayweather, Pacquiao expressed his desire to close out his career under the same outfit that handles Mayweather.
“I’m very excited about this new chapter in my career and I’m looking forward to a fresh start,” Pacquiao said in a statement released late Monday.
“I’m reinvigorated by the prospects of bringing up new fighters under the MP Promotions banner. My team will work closely with Al Haymon for the remainder of my career to deliver the most anticipated fights with the top PBC fighters. Those are the fights the fans want to see and the ones I want to have to close out my career.”
Haymon represents the world’s finest at welterweight, including Errol Spence, Keith Thurman, former sparring partner Shawn Porter, and Mayweather.
To kick off his new partnership, Pacquiao will meet Adrien Broner, another Haymon fighter, on Jan. 19 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas with a victory setting him up for a rematch with Mayweather.
