PRESIDENT Duterte has ordered the arrest of former Customs intelligence officer Jimmy Guban amid his alleged involvement in the illegal drug trade.
The President said he asked Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Oscar Albayalde to apprehend Guban after attending a congressional hearing and bring him to the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).
Duterte mentioned Guban’s name while discussing his resolve to continue the war on drugs and destroy the illegal apparatus without mercy.
“Si Guban pinaaresto ko. Sabi ko right afer the session you arrest him,” Duterte said in a speech in Malacañang, after the House of Representatives conducted a hearing on the R6 billion shabu shipment that slipped past the Manila port.
He said when Albayalde asked him about the grounds for arrest, he told the PNP chief to “just arrest him, bring him to NBI.”
“Huwag kayo kasi kayo na-mention dyan sa investigation. Bring him to the NBI,” Duterte told Albayalde.
“Sabihin mo dalhin sa Cavite. Ihulog sa.. Siya ang nagpasok, siya ang nag-fake ng ID.. if you do that everyday, p*** i*** ginagawa mo akong gago eh,” Duterte said.
Guban was among the law enforcement personnel implicated in the illegal drug trade under the guise of legitimate operations based on a dossier released by the President.
In the President’s confidential report, they were allegedly involved in the smuggling of illegal drugs and other contraband and extortion of some warehouse owners. (Genalyn D. Kabiling)
