Rising star Faith Nisperos put on another stellar show as reigning girls champion National University completed a six-match first round sweep in the UAAP high school volleyball tournament on Friday at the Blue Eagle Gym.
Nisperos had 13 points as the Bullpups kept their perfect record with a 25-12, 25-19, 25-13 romp of University of the East.
Adamson, on the other hand, gained a piece of the No. 2 spot with a 16-25, 20-25, 25-19, 25-21, 15-10 win over the UST bets – thanks to Kate Santiago’s 21-point outing.
The win improved Adamson’s record to 4-2, tying De La Salle-Zobel, which absorbed a 25-20, 25-14, 22-25, 25-23 loss to Far Eastern University.
The Baby Tamaraws ended first round in a tie with the Junior Tigresses in fourth place with a 3-3 record.
The Junior Warriors, for their part, fell to 1-5.
Meantime, NU also went perfect in the boys’ division as the Bullpups stretched their winning run to seven games with a 25-10, 25-12, 25-19 decision over University of the East.
Pol Salvador and Lorence Cruz teamed up for 22 points for the Bullpups.
In a rematch of last year’s Finals, Jose Magdalona had 23 points as Far Eastern University-Diliman outlasted titleholder University of Santo Tomas, 17-25, 25-27, 25-17, 25-17, 15-11, to remain in second spot at 6-1.
