Games Today (Olivarez College gym)
12 noon – SJC-B vs Olivarez
2 p.m. – TIP vs Diliman
Diliman College hopes to clinch the first semis berth when it faces Technological Institute of the Philippines (TIP) today even as Olivarez Colleges tries to snap a two-game losing run in the Universities and Colleges Basketball League (UCBL) Season 3 at the Olivarez College in Parañaque City.
Their confidence boosted by a massive 120-76 win over St. Joseph College-Bulacan last Thursday, the Blue Dragons are expected come out strong in their 2 p.m. showdown with the Engineers whom they narrowly beat, 92-90, in the first round.
The Engineers outshot and outrebounded the Blue Dragons the first time they clash two weeks ago but to the chagrin of coach Potit De Vera they bungled one scoring opportunity after another at crunch time.
Spitfire Robby Darang underscored Diliman’s resilience and energy with 28 points spiked by four triples. He also had four rebounds and three assists to help Diliman’s sustain its winning drive.
The Blue Dragons have won their last six games since losing to Centro Escolar University, 88-61, on Sept 20.
Part of Diliman’s six-game winning streak was its back-to-back wins over erstwhile leader Olivarez.
Both CEU and Diliman are actually assured of playoff berths with similar 7-1 win-loss marks.
The Olivarez Sea Lions eye a repeat over the St. Joseph dribblers to put their semis bid back on track.
St. Joseph, who lost to Olivarez, 91-68, in the first round, is languishing at the cellar with a dismal 0-8 card.
