LIPA CITY – Erwin Arcillas, who missed the cut by one last week, missed grabbing the solo top spot this time, bogeying the last hole for a 67 and a share of the clubhouse lead with Sutijet Kooratanapisan of Thailand in windy opener of the Summit Point World 18 Challenge here yesterday.
The Thai cashed in on a two-shot swing with a closing birdie to catch Arcillas at the helm, capping a big comeback from a bogey on the par-5 third hole with half of the 94-player starting field, including bets from 13 countries, still to complete play at the windswept Summit Point Golf Club at presstime.
“I played pretty good in windy condition,” said Arcillas, who missed nailing his first win with a playoff loss to Australian David Gleeson at ICTSI Luisita Championship, the kickoff leg of this year’s Philippine Golf Tour Asia last April.
