DIGOS CITY – Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) Chairman William “Butch” Ramirez underscored the importance of instilling peacemaking among children during the opening of the agency’s Children’s Games at the Cor Jesu College gym on Tuesday here.
Speaking before some 400 student-athletes, parents and catechists, Ramirez said: “In playing games with each other, you get acquainted and gain new friends. Peacemaking can start early with children playing since one becomes an adult it would be more challenging having his or her own beliefs and opinions.”
The Unesco-cited Children’s Games, he said, is a primary component of the agency’s Sports for Peace Program that encourages kids from different tribes, religion and culture to embrace their right to play as stated by the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.
