Sunrise Sprint, a short swim-bike-run event for beginners seeking to immerse themselves into the sport of triathlon, will spice up the action in the inaugural Black Arrow Express 5150 on Sunday in Subic Bay.
A big-hit in its inaugural season, the Sunrise Sprint, dubbed as S2, is back with a promise of a more exciting, thrilling edition among 273 participants in the 750m open-water swim, 20km bike ride and 5km run race.
The organizing Sunrise Events, Inc. has put up the event for triathlon wannabes who want to race without having to worry about long periods of training. It is also aimed at providing a venue for tri-warriors out to make a comeback in the ever-growing sport and at the same time deliver quality triathlon festival experience.
SEI founder/president Wilfred Uytengsu and Black Arrow’s Allan Brizuela are also competing in the 5150 race.
IronKids stalwart Wacky Baniqued banners the cast in the side event of the Black Arrow Express 5150, which has recently inked a three-year contract with SEI to stage the 5150 races.
Eight elite pros, meanwhile, head the 627 participants in the main event, which also features competitions in the Asian Elite and various age categories. Also on tap are the relay events for male, female and mixed, also designed to prepare triathletes to go full-time in the multi-sport.
