Ateneo-Motolite displayed its rock-solid net defense as it edged Tacloban, 25-19, 25-21, 21-25, 25-19, on Saturday in the Premier Volleyball League Open Conference at The Arena in San Juan City.
The Lady Eagles posted 15 blocks – nine from Maddie Madayag and Bea De Leon – to cement their hold for the top spot with their eighth victory in 10 matches.
Madayag and De Leon paced the Katipunan-based squad with 14 and 13 points while Vanessa Gandler and Kat Tolentino merged for 21 points.
Tacloban skidded to its second straight loss to drop at 4-6 despite Heather Guino-o and Dim Pacres leading the crew with 16 and 13 points.
In the other game, PetroGazz swept Iriga-Navy, 25-21, 25-19, 25-17, for its fifth win in eight games.
