Dear Manay Gina,
I hate to admit it but I’m feeling envious of my batch-mates. I actually think that maybe they are smarter than me, because they excel in their chosen field. I, on one hand, am just an employee who tries to make ends meet every now and then. I also feel that there is nothing where I am good at. I can’t sing, dance, and I also don’t speak well. Is it possible that I am just untalented? What can I do to improve my life?
Malou
Dear Malou,
Don’t be so hard on yourself. It is quite possible that you have yet to discover your talents. Why don’t you try doing new things you might have been hesitant to undertake, be it cooking or playing a musical instrument.
You may surprise yourself. Sometimes the very things you never thought you’d like will be the one that would make you shine.
One area where you can never go wrong is investing your time in helping others. There’s no question that your time in doing charity will be most appreciated. It will also help you feel fulfilled and will give you a sense of purpose.
In terms of money-making, of course, luck is a factor. However, all the successful people have one thing in common – perseverance. IKEA founder, Ingvar Kamprad, at one time, went door to door on his bicycle selling matches to neighbors in his small village before moving on to fish, pens, and so on.
So, while it is important to know our limitations, it is also worth noting that before we give up on anything, we try at least to keep paddling over and over again, until we reach our goal.
With affection,
Manay Gina
