Kevin “The Silencer” Belingon hopes to make history when he faces Brazilian star Bibiano Fernandes in a title unification rematch tonight at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.
Belingon, ONE interim bantamweight titleholder, said he’s confident he can avenge his only loss in eight fights having trained long and hard for this fight.
“I trained very hard for this match. I’ve waited for a long time to face Bibiano Fernandes again. I am 100 percent ready and confident,” said Belingon, who compiled six consecutive victories since losing to Fernandes in 2016.
“I will do my best to win this time.”
Fernandes, meanwhile, promised a repeat performance against the Team Lakay star.
“This is where I unified the titles in 2013. I will get a chance to do it again in a rematch with a tough opponent in Kevin Belingon,” said the Brazilian jiu-jitsu specialist. “I fought him in the past. I finished him before, and I will finish him again.”
The rematch will serve as ONE: Heart of the Lion’s headliner with women’s atomweight champion Angela Lee pulling out of her title match after sustaining a severe back injury in training.
