Hall of Fame promoter Bob Arum has revealed that the world super-flyweight unification starring Jerwin Ancajas and Thailand’s Srisaket Sor Rungvisai “is going to happen” next year.
Arum, who heads Top Rank and is Ancajas promoter, said the mouthwatering matchup between the leading 115-pounders could take place in February or March.
Top Rank does 30 shows a year as it is aligned with ESPN “and holds 25 shows outside the US.”
A meeting with Tom Loeffler, who represents Sor Rungvisai, took place a few weeks ago and Loeffler has already discussed the fight with the Thai camp.
“It’s just a matter of knowing the date (and venue),” said Arum, adding it will happen on US soil.
Ancajas holds the International Boxing Federation title while Sor Rungvisai has the World Boxing Council strap and the two met each other last month in Bangkok in an effort to initiate the talks.
