Technological Institute of the Philippines (TIP) looks to secure a semis playoff when it faces winless St. Joseph College of Bulacan even as early semifinalist Centro Escolar University goes for its 9th straight win in the Universities and Colleges Basketball League (UCBL) Season 3 at the Olivarez College in Parañaque City.
With a 5-4 record, the TIP Engineers could clinch a playoff for the last semis berth if they beat the St. Joseph dribblers in their 2 p.m. showdown.
Despite absorbing a stinging 80-76 loss to the CEU Scorpions last Monday, the Engineers are confident they can repeat their 87-63 romp over the St. Joseph cagers a month ago.
The defeat to CEU the last time was a bitter pill to swallow for Engineers who appeared headed for a big win after leading 74-71 but they froze in the face of CEU’s hustle.
The seven-team tournament is backed by CaféFrance, Yakult, Gerry’s Grill, Hapee Toothpaste, MaxSell Power Tool and Tough Mama Home and Kitchen Appliances, Tanduay Athletics and Toyota Motor Philippines.
